Who We Are
Fresh from the fields is a family run greengrocers offering fresh, locally sourced produce to the city of Lincoln & the surrounding villages, with a shop in the heart of uphill Lincoln (See the Shop Locations tab for Locations). Alongside the shop and pop up market locations is an ever broadening wholesale supply service, delivering directly to your business across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. The aim is to source the finest quality produce whilst supporting many local farmers to achieve both the finest & the freshest produce for our customers.
A Family Run Business Since 1998
In 1998, inspired by his grandfathers, eldest son, Gareth Willows, set up a trailer selling produce in a lay-by on the A57 near the Willows family home in Thorney. Farming had been passed down through the generations as the Willows moved from Scarle to Thorney farming the land, growing wheat, barley & sugar beet. This gave Gareth the passion to farm & he found his market in growing potatoes along with other produce, mainly greens. As his passion grew, Gareth’s enterprise evolved to include multiple car boot stands & a delivery service around the village. As he was still at school, he relied on the help of his father, Graham Willows. In 1998, they created the company Fresh from the fields, opening the first shop on Rookery Lane, Boultham Park.
As news spread around the city about the arrival of a new greengrocers, demand was high & the opportunity arose to open the Bailgate shop, on St Paul’s Lane in 2002.
Building relationships with customers, the wholesale division was created as St John’s Care Homes became the first Account Client. Currently, Fresh from the fields supplies many schools, pubs, restaurants, care centres & offices with first class produce grown by both local farmers & growers from around the world. Unfortunately, as the company has continued to expand, the time to grow their own produced has narrowed. However, this is a temporary situation & the Willows family plan to return to farming & harvesting some of the Country’s finest produce in the future.
Father & Son, Graham and Gareth, are overwhelmed by the ever expanding base of loyal customers. Fresh from the fields continues to grow as a family run greengrocers &, with the support of their loyal customers, hope to keep growing.
